How It Started

It all began in 1991, Valentine's day to be exact!

Beni Iguana’s Sushi Bar opened its doors for business. It was founded by Betsy Hutton and her son Todd Reinhard on the island of St. John, in the United States Virgin Islands.

It was the only Sushi bar on island at that time. Betsy and Todd started out by importing Japanese Sushi chefs from New York and New Jersey for the first two years of operation. During those years Betsy and Todd learned the art of Sushi and developed their own unique style which separates Beni Iguana’s from other sushi bars around the world.

In May 1995, they personally decided to relocated and reside over on St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

On July 15th, 2007, Betsy and Todd opened a new and much larger restaurant in Havensight Mall, expanding their business to entertain a larger number of guests and groups both locals, hotel guests and conveniently for cruise ship visitors!
